Your Aberdeen Wings proud Members of the North American Hockey League completed the 2017 NAHL Draft Tuesday afternoon.  The Wings, reigning NAHL Central Division Champions had 4 selections in the draft.

Aberdeen started out by taking John Sladic in the1st round, 10th overall.  Sladic is a 5’10 156 LB forward from Novi, MI.  Sladic is a 98 birth year who spent last season playing with the Cowichan Valley Capitals.  Sladic had 6 goals & 7 assists in 22 games played.  “John is a very high end skilled individual.  We expect him to add a scoring punch for us.” -Assistant Coach Anthony Bohn.

Aberdeen selected Joseph Mancuso in round 2, 33rd overall.  Joseph is a 6’3 185 LB forward from Pottstown, PA.  Mancuso is a 99 birth year who spent last season with the Philadelphia Jr. Flyers 18U.  Joseph had 9 goals & 11 assists in 15 games played.   “Joseph is a big, 200 ft player with good touch around the net. ” _Assistant Coach Anthony Bohn.

The Wings did not have a 3rd round pick.  In the 4th round, 74th overall Aberdeen selected Jed Pietila, a 5″10 165 LB forward from Howell, MI.  Pietila played in 21 games last season for Hartland High & had 20 goals & 35 assists.  Jed is a 99 birth year.  “Jed is a very versatile player that we expect to add to all aspects of the game.” -Assistant Coach Anthony Bohn.

just 6 picks later the Wings selected Strauss Mann 80th overall.  Strauss is a 98 birth year goaltender.  He’s 6’1 180 LB’s.  Mann spent last season playing for Brunswick School.  in the 2015-16 season Strauss posted a 1.28 GAA & .952 SV%.  He also won the 2017 National Championship for the Mid-Fairfield Rangers U18.  “Strauss is a dedicated hard working goaltender with a championship pedigree.”  – Assistant Coach Anthony Bohn.
