Your Aberdeen Wings (29-24-3-4) start their quest for the cup tonight against the Minot Minotauros (38-18-4-0).  After an up and down year for the Wings they were able to secure the final Central Division spot with a tie breaker giving Brookings 3rd place.  But as they say the playoffs are a new season.  erase everything that has happened and find out what will happen.  Those words couldn’t be more true for the Wings in the first round.  While Aberdeen was 4-6-1-1 through the 12 games against the Minotauros during the regular season, the last of those games was played on January 26th, and the Wings won.  While it is easy to see that with the overtime and shootout loss going the Wings way the teams would have been square on the season series, what you cant see is how much the teams have changed since then.  Minot came out strong our of the gate winning the NAHL Showcase in Blaine then opening up their home schedule with 2 wins against the Wings.  The following weekend the Wings were able to repay Minot with a Home opening win and handed Minot their first loss of the season.  Minot was able to stay on top of the Central the entire year and were able to clinch a few weeks ago.  The Wings have battled their way through the Central down the stretch and have been playing meaningful games all season long.  All this wont matter at 7:35 tonight when the puck drops in Minot though, 2 great teams will battle for a minimum of 60 minutes or until one comes away with a 1-0 record.  In a best of 5 series tonight will set the tone.
