Your Aberdeen Wings opened up the 2016 NAHL Showcase with a thrilling come from behind shootout win against Corpus Christi Wednesday afternoon.  Aberdeen fell behind early in the 1st when the Ice Rays capitalized on a few mistakes in the Aberdeen defensive zone.  The Wings went into the locker room after the first trailing 2-0.  It was a much more physical game after that, and the Wings were able to play at their pace.  A little over midway through the 2nd Shawn Knowlton got the Wings on the board with an unassisted goal.  With the momentum back on the Wings side they started peppering the Ice Rays goaltender with shots, but would ultimately end the 2nd still trailing by a goal.  The 3rd was much of the same, as Aberdeen would end up outshooting Corpus Christi 23-18 in the final 2 periods.  Kevin Fitzgerald tied things up late in the 3rd when he ripped a shot past the Ice Rays tender.  Things would stay this way as the 3rd came to an end and through the overtime period.  Fitzy started off for the Wings and was able to backhand a shot to the back of the net.  That would be all the Wings would need.  Arrtu Kulmala took care of the rest, stopping Corpus Christi on all 3 of their attempts.  On the day Arrtu would make 35 saves on 37 shots.  “Im proud of the teams compete level.  We got down but showed no quit.  Definitely something to build off.” -Coach Langer
